Season Awards 2009

The QHS girls officially wrapped up the season with awards at the annual banquet tonight.

Freshman Tori Kuhn was named most valuable player, also picking up field goal percentage, rebound, All-Western Big Six and honorable mention all-state honors. 

Lindsay Barton won the best free throw and 3-point percentage awards, with Shelby Wires taking the assists and steals honors. 

Freshman Anna Leenerts earned most improved player kudos. Seniors Emily Hart, Macy Smith and Kati Kuhn were named to the Western Big Six All-Academic team, with Kati also winning the QHS scholar athlete award.

Congrats on great careers to our seniors, and the future looks bright for the Devils!

Moline 58, QHS 35

Moline pulled steadily away from a 20-10 halftime lead and ended Quincy's season with a Class 4A Regional Tournament win at Wharton Fieldhouse.

Shelby Wires led Quincy with 10 points. Seniors Emily Hart (six points, eight rebounds) and Macy Smith (six points, five rebounds) ended their careers as basketball Blue Devils.

Danville 52, QHS 46

Tori Kuhn had 18 points and Shelby Wires 11 points as Quincy ended the regular season at Danville Saturday.

QHS gets ready for regional play at Moline against the host school Tuesday.

Galesburg 53, QHS 46

QHS trailed by only a point midway through the fourth quarter, but Silver Streak guard Jessica Howard buried one of her five 3-pointers to help thwart the rally as Galesburg held on.

Howard had 19 points to lead Galesburg, with QHS getting 18 points from a freshman Tori Kuhn and 11 more by freshman Anna Leenerts.

QHS ends the regular season at Danville Saturday, then plays at Moline to begin post season play Tuesday night.

QHS 48, Jacksonville Routt 45

Shelby Wires and Haley Womack helped force key turnovers in the final 10 seconds to help QHS hold on for a Senior Day win and send seniors Emily Hart, Kati Kuhn, Macy Smith and Scottie Chatfield home winners.

Tori Kuhn had 10 points and Wires nine points to lead the Blue Devils, and nine players reached the scoring column. 

QHS won the junior varsity game 48-43 behind 11 points from Audrey Holtschlag and 10 points from Darion Stephens.

East Moline 61, QHS 43

Tori Kuhn had 12 points and Shelby Wires 10 points for Quincy in a Western Big Six road loss.

QHS plays host to Jacksonville Routt Saturday on Senior Day. Kati Kuhn, Macy Smith and Emily Hart will be honored as the Blue Devil seniors.

QHS 51, Rock Island 48

Junior Shelby Wires led her shorthanded QHS team to a huge Western Big Six win by scoring 14 points, with fellow junior Stevee Nolan adding 10.

Without injured freshman and leading scorer/rebounder Tori Kuhn and senior Emily Hart (injured back) QHS rallied.
