Springfield SE 53, QHS 43
QHS could not continue the momentum from this morning's game and let an early 10-2 lead slip away by halftime, and never seriously threatened in the second half. Tori Kuhn had 10 points for the Blue Devils, with Lindsey Barton adding eight points, all in the fourth quarter. Macy Ferguson Smith had eight points in one of her best games for the Blue Devils (1-6).

Morton 59, QHS 55 (OT)
Quincy nearly pulled off the upset this morning at QJHS gym, but couldn't hold late leads in regulation and overtime.
QHS led by six with under two minutes left, led by junior Lindsay Barton's inspired play and clutch 3-pointer to break a 38-38 tie.
But Morton drained two 3-pointers and it took a late stand and Morton turnover at the end of regulation before the game went into overtime.
QHS trailed by five with under three minutes left but charged back, as freshman Darion Stephens hit a twisting layup and senior Emily Hart knocked down an off-balance 8-footer with 30 seconds left to put the Blue Devils ahead 55-54.
After an ensuring Morton turnover, QHS could not get the ball over the halfcourt line with 15 seconds to play, and Morton made a three-point play and hit two free throws in the final seconds.
Tori Kuhn had 20 points and 10 rebounds to pace QHS, with Hart adding 14 points and seven rebounds.

St. Charles North 44, QHS 39
In a Saturday afternoon game at Blue Devil Gym (game moved from QHS because of the Christmas gift show), St. Charles North withstood a furious second-half comeback.
If this a harbinger of things to come, the Blue Devils may be able to compete with anybody on the schedule. Freshman Tori Kuhn, junior Stevee Nolan and senior Emily Hart helped shut down Michigan State recruit Kelsey Smith, limiting her to just five points.
North jumped to a 14-point first-half lead thanks to making six of seven 3-pointers in the first two quarters. Kiley Hackbarth made three of the long-range bombs, but QHS managed to stay within 30-20 entering the second half.
Quincy had several chances to tie or take the lead late in the game, including a 3-pointer by senior Hayley Ott that rolled around the rim and somehow refused to go in that would have put the Devils up 37-36.
Kuhn led Quincy for the second straight game with eight points and seven rebounds. Hart and junior point guard Shelby Wires added seven points each. QHS got spirited play off the bench from senior Macy Ferguson Smith, who sank two buckets in the second quarter to keep the Devils within reach, and sophomore guard Haley Womack and junior guard Kala Griffin, who helped force 15 St. Charles North Turnovers.
Quincy now readies for Western Big 6 play with a game at Moline Tuesday, followed by the QHS Thanksgiving Tournament. We'll post the tournament schedule this week.
In the junior varsity game, coach Jeff Hibbert's squad put up a good fight before falling 57-44. Anna Leenerts scored 16 points to lead Quincy (1-1).
