GAME RECAP: Turnovers once again plagued the shorthanded Blue Devils Thursday night in Rock Island. Emily Hart had 12 points and Ashley Spiegelhoff added eight for Quincy (1-7 overall, 0-2 in the WB6).
HURTING: Shelby Wires had knee surgery earlier this week and the sophomore point guard will likely be out four to six weeks. Junior Hayley Ott is fighting a walking pneumonia illness. Junior Emily Hart played Thursday despite being treated for bronchitis this week. Coach Devoe says her team continues to battle despite being shorthanded.
COVERAGE: Special thanks to Chris Duerr of KHQA who came out last Saturday for our tournament game against Springfield Southeast. Chris doggedly stuck it out to get highlights of our girls and we appreciate his determination. Last night's game was covered by the Moline Dispatch (http://www.qconline.com/archives/qco/display.php?id=364638) and the story will also be in today's Herald-Whig.
NEXT UP: Quincy has a week to get healthy before hosting Rock Island next Thursday. Rock Island is also 0-2 in the conference.
PROGRAMS: The media guide is being printed as we speak! It will be available at next week's game.
EIGHT GRADERS WIN: The Quincy Junior High School girls won a regional in Springfield Thursday, beating previously undefeated Franklin 49-34. Tori Kuhn had 15 points, Breanna Scholfied 13 and Laken Frese 11 for the Comets, who won a state title last year. They play at home next Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Rochester in a sectional game. Go Comets!
